Can I eat and drink before my surgery?Pinnacle Surgery Center of Austin is commited to providing a safe patient experience. For most patients, we require no food or drink (including gum,candy, or mints) after midnight before the scheduled surgery. This can vary depeding on the time or extent of your surgery. You will receive a phone call the day prior to your surgery with a reminder of this information. For any questions, please contact us at (512) 553-1700.

What do I do about my routine medication schedule?Please contact your surgeons office to clarify any medications you may be taking and instruct you on what medications can be taken prior to your surgery.

What if I get sick before my surgery?If you have any change in health status such as cold,cough,or fever, please contact your surgeon or primary care physician immediately.

Do I need someone to accompany me to my surgery?Pinnacle Surgery Center of Austin requires every patient to have a responsible person over the age of 18 to accompany them home after their surgery.

Will I need any pre-operative testing?This is dependent on your surgeon and the type of surgery you are having. A nurse at Pinnacle Surgery Center of Austin and your doctor's office will notify you if any pre-operative testing is required for your surgery.

What type of clothing do I wear to my surgery?Please wear loose, comfortable clothing/shoes.

Directions to PinnaclePinnacle Surgery Center of Austin is located at 911 West 38th Street Suite 400 on the 4th floor of the Midtown Medical II building. The building is located at the southeast corner of W 38th Street and N Lamar Boulevard. FROM MOPAC: - Take the exit for 35th Street and head east - Stay left at the fork as W 35th Street turns into W 38th Street - Go straight through the light at N Lamar and W 38th Street. The north parking garage entrance is the first turn in past the light. FROM I-35: - Take the 38 ½ street exit and head west - Keep straight at light as E 38th ½ Street turns into 38th Street - Go straight past the light at Guadalupe Street. - The north parking garage entrance will be on the left, just before the light at N Lamar.

Parking at PinnacleThere is a parking garage located between Midtown Medical building I/II. Patient and Visitor parking spots are available starting on the 2nd floor. The most convinient parking spots are located on the third floor near the breezeway. Once in the building, take elevator to 4th floor to suite 400.

Can I drive after my surgery?For patients undergoing anesthesia, you should not drive, operate machinery, make important decisions, or sign legal documentation the first 24 hours after surgery. If you are undergoing local anesthesia, please contact the facility to review patient ride requirements.

Will my diet be limited?Most patients are able to eat normally after surgery. We recommend no heavy or spicy meals.

When should I contact my doctor?Please contact you physician if you have any of the following: Observe excessive bleeding, drainage, redness, or swelling Develop unexpected numbness, coldness, or change of color at operative site Have extreme pain not relieved by prescribed pain medication, or medication causes a reaction Notice a foul odor emanating from surgical site, or have a temperature of 101º F or higher If it is an emergency and you cannot reach your physician, go to the nearest emergency room or dial 911
